In Radda in Chianti everyone is ready to welcome the Podestà Francesco, son of Niccolò Ferrucci, nicknamed “Ferruccio”.

On Saturday, June 23rd it’s time for the folk Festival “Radda Rinascimentale nel segno del Ferrucci”, organized by the Pro Loco of Radda in Chianti with the patronage of the Municipality.

This festival, which has successfully arrived at its seventh edition, will populate the streets of Radda in Chianti with acrobats, falconers, jugglers, fire eaters, knights, ancient crafts, music, Renaissance dances and several shows for adults and children.

Everybody is looking forward to watching “Palla in Botte”, a game during which the teams of Porta Valdarnese and Porta Fiorentina will challenge each other to assert their supremacy in Radda; the field is ready, only the players are missing.

The Festival opens on Saturday at 10am, with the street market in the historic centre. At 4pm the fun starts with a parade in historic costume and the teams’ oath before the game “Palla in Botte”, which will start at 6.15 pm in the car park under the town’s walls.

At 7pm various food stalls will open in the town centre and at 9:30pm there will be a fire show organized by “La Barraca”. The costume party will end at 10.30pm with the “Gerberette” in concert in the municipal gardens.

During the festival Radda will be filled with music, and various shows by stilt walkers, standard-bearers, musicians from Valmarina, the Alfiere district and a beer stand.

This is a great opportunity to see Radda return to its colourful past, with all the citizens dressed up in historic costumes, sewn by the town’s seamstresses for the occasion.

And to enjoy a typical Renaissance atmosphere in the setting of the beautiful Radda in Chianti.
