Here is the preview of the program for the 2017 edition of Expo del Chianti Classico a Greve in Chianti, the event dedicated to the marvels of Gallo Nero in Chianti.

It will take place from Thursday, September 7 to Sunday, September 10, with the event centered in piazza Matteotti where winery stands will be set up.  Following is the calendar.

Thursday, September 7: 5 PM in piazza Matteotti, inauguration. Cutting of the ribbon with the authorities and the opening of wine tasting stands (closing at 10 PM). Until 7 PM, music with the Amici di’ Chianti; 6 PM, debate with Chianti Mayors, “Otto Comuni, un grande territorio”. 9 PM, fashion show “Borgo in passerella”, starring the merchants of Greve. Prize for the most beautiful  “rificolona”.

Friday, September 8: stands open from 11 AM till 10 PM: 5 PM “Il Chianti Classico storia e leggenda”, gathering with the president of the regional council, Eugenio Giani; from 6 PM to 9 PM, in the piazza, street band Attraroba; at 9 PM, solemn procession of the “Diotto”, leaving from the Church of Santa Croce; starting at 9:30 PM, in the “Spazio Piscine”, music with DJ.

Saturday, September 9: stands open from 11 AM till 8 PM; from 10 AM to 7 PM “Borgo Artigiana”, artisan market; 4 PM, in the council hall, “Greve ed ENOdintorni”, guided wine tasting (15 euros, reservations at a.molletti@comune.greve-in-chianti.fi.it); 5 PM consignment of the certficates to the Greve “Cittadini Emeriti” (worthy citizents).

Followed by the presentation of the book, “Le donne del vino in Toscana” by Nadia Fondelli and Roberta Capanni;  from 5 PM to 8 PM, the Large Street Band in piazza; 5:30 PM in the council hall, “Chianti Classico Gran selezione, focus sul territorio”, guided wine tasting (15 euros, reservations at a.molletti@comune.greve-in-chianti.fi.it); 5 PM in the piazzetta delle Cantine, dance show starting at 9:30 PM at the Piscine, Cecco & Cipo and DJ.

Sunday, September 10: stands open from 11 AM till 9 PM; at 4:30 PM, in  piazza Matteotti, exhibition of the Gruppo Sbandieratori di Fivizzano; at 5 PM, awarding of prizes for the photographic contest of the Fotoclub Chianti “Il Chianti da conoscere”; at 6 PM, super bingo run by the parish of Santa Croce; at 9:15 PM in piazza Vassallo, concert of La Settima Onda, official cover band of the Nomadi.

During the fair: art exhibition at the Museo di San Francesco and in other exhibit spaces, with works by Valerio Mirannanti, Francesco Chimienti, Luca Carfagna, Frosini Pietre, and Elisa Verniani.

Guided foot tours and excursions (Saturday and Sunday, September 9 and 10) at the Pievi and the Castelli di Greve (information and reservations; Marco Antonio 3286124658).

At Montefioralle,  Saturday and Sunday, September 9 and 10, “La natura e la storia del territorio di Greve in Chianti”, Church of Santo Stefano opened for exhibition of Sacred Art. Terra Madre food in the piazza.
