In Gaiole in Chianti, the heart of Chianti, on Friday and Saturday, May 12 and 13“Polvere&Gloria (Dust and Glory): in moto sulle strade de L’Eroica” will take place.

The route is 208 kilometers long, half on asphalt, half on unpaved roads. The atmosphere is that of a tourist rally for the 500 participants.

There are two categories: “Vecchie Glorie”, motorcycles approved by December 31, 1999, and “Saranno Famose”, those approved after January 1, 2000. The town will be alive with markets and themed exhibitions.

The event moves to Castiglion Fiorentino on Sunday, May 14, for the commemoration of Fabrizio Meoni, “enduro” champion, who died during the Dakar race of 2005.

For  those who don’t have an “enduro” bike, the same roads can be run with any type of motorbike by participating in the “Classic Heroes” which will be held at the same time as Polvere&Gloria on May 13 and 14.

“Polvere&Gloria agrees completely with the values and philosopy of life of the Eroica,” comments Michele Pescini, mayor of Gaiole in Chianti.  “We recognize the importance of not only the itineraries, all of them beautiful, but of the atmosphere that we breathe when we get off the motorbike. It is an event that unites fun with the joy of staying together in an old-time atmosphere which you can still feel in Gaiole in Chianti. I wish a good stay to all of the participants”.

“Enduro” tourism is in expansion and Polvere &Gloria has become the “Woodstock” of vintage “enduro”. All motor bikes are welcome,” explains Andrea Leggieri, promotor and soul of the event, “no matter what brand or model, as long as they are up to date with the code of the road and in good working order. But as real Eroici, we can’t hide our passion for the vintage vehicles, which we welcome with open arms!”.

The program: Friday, May 12, at 9 AM and 3 PM, a course of “on-off” specific driving for the maxi-enduro and a tour in company of the instructors of GSSSFMl; at 8:30 PM, a dinner for participants with tastings of typical local cuisine.

The height of the event will be on Saturday, May 13, in the piazza of Gaiole in Chianti, starting at 8 AM, with the departure of the motorcyclists of Polvere&Gloria, one every 20 seconds.

The arrival is foreseen for 4 PM in Gaiole, with “L’Eroica in moto Hall of Fame” and prizes for participation. The event ends on Sunday,

May 14, at Castiglion Fiorentino with a ceremony commemorating Fabrizio Meoni and the inauguration of a statue in town dedicated to him.
