Creativity and a marked artistic talent are the characteristics which describe Filippo Serni, 27 year old born in San Polo in Chianti and raised in Panzano in Chianti where he now lives.

His father, Cesare, creates incisions on olive wood, an art that he learned from his father. Grandma Miriam Serni Casalini, is a writer and poet.

Filippo chose his path when he was very young, when he decided to stop studying at Artistic High School and attend the Hotel Institute, studying tourism and reception, things which had always fascinated him.

“Since I was little, I have been in love with a waiter’s uniform and long tablecloths,” he says.

“Once,” he tells us happily, “I accompanied my grandmother to a luncheon (I don’t remember the occasion) and I was impressed by the elegant table settings and the perfect waiters, a fascnating world”.

Perhaps for this memory, Filippo created the “Blue Flamingo Events”, a business which organizes parties, events and weddings.

Filippo Serni worked while he was studying, first in a travel agency and then as a waiter in the restaurants of the Antica Macelleria Cecchini in Panzano and in catering events organized by the Castle of Tornano, in Castellina in Chiant, with which he still collaborates.

Presently, he works at the Enoteca Baldi in Panzano. He organized his first wedding in 2014 in Terre De Baccio, Greve in Chianti, for an American woman and her Dutch husband.

“Once I began,” confirms Filippo, “with word of mouth, considering the multitude of people who choose Panzano and Chianti to celebrate important dates and to get married, I was in the game. I like to create an event and see people satisfied with my work”.

“Last year,” he continues, “I took care of the setting up, the catering and the choreography for a party with 150 guests at the Villa Pecille to celebrate an Austrian woman, an event organizer. Here is when I decided to create my own company”.

IMG_20161003_105111For the year 2017, the Blue Flamingo Events already has a nice schedule: a wedding at the end of May, a 50th birthday in July and a wedding in September.

“And at end the year,” Filippo tells us, “in December, I will do my best to organize my own wedding with my partner, Alessio. It will be a grand celebration and this time, I will both organize it and live it!”.
