There will be a single “Pit” to put together the needs and proposals of the wineries of Lamole and the Biodistretto of Chianti. The first occasion to discuss opportunities for “Piano di Sviluppo rurale” (the plan for rural development), was offered by a meeting, promoted by the Biodistretto and hosted by the Township of Greve and united town administraors, wineries and experts in the town council Hall of Piazza Matteotti.

Said the mayor, Paolo Sottani: “We greeted an assembly open to citizens and the wineries, to illustrate objectives, programs, and the desire to promote an integrated territorial project through which one could participate in the rural development plan. The plan represents a first step in our path and was born from the need to found and render operative the project of the Lamole and Biodistretto wineries, which aim at the support and the concrete realization of the collective development of organic production”.
During the public meeting, the pertinent territory, opportunities and areas addressed by the project were illustrated as well as the way to adhere to the project and the selection of participants.
The necessity of underwriting an agreement among all of the participants and for the management of internal relationships were also discussed. “We feel that the involvement and participation of organic producers and local institutions are necessary to promote the organic inside and outside of the district,” explain the promotors.
Companies in the wine sector of Lamole and those of the Biodistretto of Chianti, mayors and administrators of the Chianti territory participated.
Agriculture, simplification of the rules, cultural traditions and tourist proposals: there are numerous fields involved in the valorization of the identity of the territory which interact in the program of activities of the Biodistretto.
The starting point of the association is the development of organic production in the territory as well as 0 km production, but the radius is wide and diverse.
There is the desire to protect and preserve local cultural traditions, agro–biodiversity and the natural environment. The tourism sector will also be interested in the actions of the Biodistretto, which plans on favoring the development a tourism proposal tied to the naturalness of the territory and the genuineness of local agricultural production.
