On Tuesday, November 1, “Escursione ai confini del Chianti: lo splendido borgo di San Gusmè”, will take place. With “Le Vie del Chianti”.

This is is a panoramic excursion along the Font of the Ombrone River, Villa Arceno and the smallt own San Gusmè, antique defensive rampart of Siena, together with the roads of Chianti.

“We will cross one of the most beautiful zones of the Sienese Chianti region”, explains the organizers. “Villas and castles immersed in a suggestive scenery of lines of cypresses, vineyards, and olive groves which reach Siena and the Sienese Crete. After leaving San Gusmè, village where time has stood still, we enter a forest of holms and reach the small village of Campi along a path of crests. The town is almost completely abandoned”.

The church dedicated to Saints Cosma and Damiano, situated on the top of the relief where the river Ombrone is born, dates to ancient times.

“Along the Forest Road”, they continue “we then reach Villa Arceno and the estate of the same name and then surpass the Ombrone, which is a little torrent at this point. We finish our itinerary returning to San Gusmè where we can sip a good wine at the “Covo di Nona”, one of the characteristic shops of the Village”
