After the Chianti Classico Stage (the stage of the famous Italy cycling race Giro d’Italia), the Chianti Classico marathon is for sure the most important sport event of our territory in 2016. It will take place on june the 5th along three paths of different length but of equal beauty and It will be the first edition of a race that continues the tradition of the Chianti Marathon, born in 1973 in the village of Mercatale and it has been going on for twenty years. Now that interrupted story begin again and we hope that it becomes a special event in the calendar of Italian marathons.

The event is organized by the four municipalities of the florentine Chianti (San Casciano, Tavarnelle, Barberino Val d’Elsa, Greve in Chianti), the historical group Podistica Valdipesa, the Consortium Association of the Wine Producers and ChiantiBanca. They support from the beginning the project “Chianti Classico Marathon”. Born in this way an event that at its first year (year zero) It will confront with a great public of fans and runners, they will arrive in Chianti with a very simple goal: to enjoy a special run trough the vineyards and olive groves, in the heart of the Florentine Chianti Classico territory.

The Abbey of Badia a Passignano, the new Antinori cellars in location Il Bargino, the village of Panzano in Chianti, the ridges of Bibbione, Montefiridolfi, Campoli.
